League Overview

NBT-Solaris is the latest addition to the NBT League System. While most NBT leagues focus on the galaxy scale conflicts that take place in the BattleTech universe, NBT-Solaris allows the actions and stories of the individual characters and pilots to take priority, moving unit based action to a back seat.  If you are looking for personal glory, fighting to amass great wealth, or just showing off your victories, NBT-Solaris is for you.

NBT-Solaris has a totally separate automation system, designed from the ground up. We have created in-depth role-playing environment for our players to participate and fight in.  Solaris VII battles are fought on neutral servers, hosted by GigAve.

It is the aim of the NBT team to provide the online gaming and BattleTech enthusiast with as many aspects of the BattleTech Universe to play with.  NBT-Solaris is the next step in that process. We hope that you will enjoy your stay.  And, once again, welcome to NBT-Solaris!

BattleTech Role-Playing:

Check your myomers; calibrate your actuators; fine-tune your gyro; load-out the newest prototype weapons and never forget to check with your image consultant, while keeping your stable manager happy. On Solaris VII war is a sport and your career can die quicker than a Clan-made PPC slicing through your cockpit. Whether your stable manager is out to get you, the mafia is on your tail, or your next opponent has a piece of new technology you’ve never heard of before, on Solaris VII the stakes are always high and success higher provided you can seize it.

NBT-Solaris uses the BattleTech universe circa 3067 as the basis for its existence.  For more information, please view the following sections:

With all of the BTech History available to build upon, NBT is requesting that its pilots role-play their selected character to the best of their ability.  There are many ways that this can be done.  The Character Creation process is just the beginning of the available role-play that can be made use of.  During your career as a Solaris Pilot you will have many opportunities to develop your character, both in-game and without. At each turn you can create a story and history for your character that is truly unique. Random events can occur that can be built upon.  NPC’s can be designed and stored for use in RP, both by yourself and others within the community.

All of this lends to the development of the role-play of the league as a whole.  Solaris VII is a busy place.  Make the most of it.

Throughout the course of the rules you will see two terms used repeatedly as concerning rules, limits and abilities. These are Pilot and Character.

  • Pilot - This is YOU, the actual person piloting the ‘Mech and typing on the screen. Pilot Limitations apply to your Solaris account as a whole. Example - A Pilot may only participate in 3 drops a week, regardless of the number of Characters he has created.
  • Character - These are the personas that you have created using the Character Creation system. They have CBT histories, skills and traits.  Character Limits only apply to that single Character, and do not deduct from any other Characters you may have on file. Example - A Character may own up to 3 ‘Mechs, therefore if you are running 2 Characters, you may have 6 ‘Mechs between them.

League Seasons & Matches

League Seasons - Each Season of NBT-Solaris will be 13 weeks, for a total of 4 Seasons a year (Autumn, Winter, Spring, Summer). Each pilot is permitted to participate in 3 drops a week, each week of play. The league does not reset at the end of a Season, but rather continues play as normal, with the same characters, pilots and current economy.

End of Season is the time of Championship Matches and the crowning of a Season’s Grand Champion. In Week 13 of each Season, special matches will be held for the top ranking characters of that Season.

League Match - This is a match that takes place on a league server, scheduled by NBT-Solaris, and fought by the participants of the league.  A League Match generally consists of 13 Pilots, and up to 3 Observers.  The match is recorded by server logs, and reported by the NBT automation for Survival, Kills and Damage.  Winnings are awarded (or deducted) accordingly. The results of each match will reflect on each participants league record and rankings.

Duel Match - This is a match that takes place on a player hosted server. Duels are generally 1 on 1, but may at times involve entire stables fighting one another. Match reporting is handled by submitted server logs, and winnings are awarded/deducted based on the same standard as for League Matches. Duel Matches have a lesser effect on league rankings and are primarily designed for bragging rights and quicky money scores.

Solaris OTB - While this is currently a pending concept, OTB will enable all pilots of the league to wager on the outcomes of all matches, be they League or Duel. Returns will be based on the particpants, total wagers and a host of other variables.  This system will be brought online as soon as possible.

League Administration:

The Administration of the league is directed by ComStar. ComStar may participate in NBT-Solaris. ComStar is responsible for the maintaining of the league (balance, economy, rules), as well as settling disagreements that may arise.  The various members of ComStar are listed below. They should be contacted directly when you have a question that falls under their specific area of expertise:

Sector Administrators

Each sector of Solaris City has a single individual assigned as a Sector Administrator.  This individual is responsible for monitoring and ruling on all role-play that is submitted by the various characters living within their sector. The six Sector Administrators are as follows:

Conclusion:

Once again, we would like to welcome you to NBT-Solaris. We wish you many battles, victories, and just a lot of general fun. If you have any questions, please ask, or view the HPG Uplink for more information.

<salute>
