Jan-02-3070 | 2007 Server Stats Updated: While they are not complete due to a couple missing servers, the log files for all existing servers have been parsed, and the Server Stats for the past 9 months have been posted, both for overall server usage, as well as individual unit stats. As the offline servers become available, I will strive to update the past months with that data as well.
With the stats caught up and the file sizes returned to normal ranges, it should be far easier to keep up to date on the coming months of statistics.
Dark Phoenix | Jun-01-3069 | Black Market Delivery Change: When Black Market chassis are delivered to a planet, they are now dropped into Mothball status on the planet, rather than directly into Owner or Allied Garrison. You will need to transfer them to your assigned garrison section manually.
There was a bug in the system that allowed Black Market deliveries to excessively over-garrison a planet (outside of standard league limits). The change will prevent that issue in the future.

Notes On This Version: Booster Pack #4 Micro-Patch. Microsoft Clan Pack and IS Pack ‘Mechs unlocked, resulting in 8 new ‘Mechs and 4 new Variants available for use. UAC Class tweaks.
- Microsoft ‘Mech Packs Unlocked: With permission granted by the Business Manager of Microsoft Game Studios, NBT has unlocked the Clan Pack and IS Pack ‘Mechs for use by the league. Per agreement with Microsoft Game Studios, the ‘Mechs are unlocked specifically within the HC mod core file, not globally for all MW4 installs. Also, in being part of the HC mod, we retain the ability to definitely dial it back if Microsoft requests, if/when they release the packs in an online format later this year. In the meantime though, we are pleased to be able to make these chassis available to the league.
Dark Phoenix | Jan-25-3069 | HCB63-012507 Released: HCB63 has been released today and is now running on the HCB servers. You may find details regarding changes and the download link at the HCB Release Page.

Notes On This Version: UltraAC tweaks.
Dark Phoenix | Dec-16-3068 | Pilot Drop Numbers Updated: Based on feedback from the membership of the league, NBT has decided to lower the base pilot requirements for the Raid/PA drops of the league. Previously the base value was 8 vs 8, with 9 pilots allowed if both sides agreed. The base value has been lowered to 7 vs 7 at this time, with 8 or 9 being allowed if both sides agree.
The base drop tonnage values will be decreased as well, with an approx. 10-15% overall reduction. This applies to Raids, GRaids, and Planetary Assaults. Recons and TDs remain unchanged.
These changes will take effect on Monday, December 25th. There is a limited Grandfather clause in effect for battles that are Force Dec'd prior to this date. Single drop raids will be fought according to the 8v8 standard. Drops in the multi-drop tracker though will find that their generated tonnages will start making use of the lowered tonnages after the 25th. This means that the next couple drops will be eligible for 8v8 drops, but after those drops have been comleted and reported, the new 7v7 standard will apply to all remaining drops.
From the Battle Protocols rules page:
8 & 9 Pilot Drops - While 8 & 9 pilots are allowed in Raids, Guerrilla Raids and Planetary Assaults, the league default drop is 7 vs 7 at this time. If both teams agree to drop 8 or 9 pilots then this is allowed and should be decided in the official Battle Arrangements thread.. Otherwise, both teams should plan on 7 vs 7 drops.
Dark Phoenix | Nov-17-3068 | NBT-Solaris / MW3 RPG Online Character Creator Announcement:
The Link: http://www.netbattletech.com/nbt-solaris
The History: Since 1997, NetBattleTech has provided gaming enthusiasts with an exemplary gaming environment, a dedicated Admin staff and solid competition for all who join our community. Through the course of 5 successful NBT leagues we have worked with units and pilots alike in the continued evolution of NBT. In 2004, NBT took on the project of creating a new league concept, an in-depth online conversion of the MW3 RPG character creation system combined with ladder league style play in a Solaris City style dueling environment. A great amount of time and effort was put into the setup of this project, resulting in a completed website and MW3 RPG Online Character Creation system (Stage 1). Sadly, this remainder of the project never reached the point where it was able to be fully launched.
Recently though, interest has been shown in having Stage 1 of this league made public access, so that anyone could make use of the Online Character Creation system that was put together for league use. In line with these requests, NBT has made some coding changes to the existing system, allowing this system to be used by anyone with a HPG (forum) account, rather than requiring membership in another NBT league. If you would like to see a host of examples of the characters that have already been created by previous members of the NBT leagues using this system, please reference the following link:
Solaris Characters
NPC Characters
The League (Stage 1): The first stage of NBT-Solaris was designed as a comprehensive conversion of the MW3 RPG character creation system. This includes affiliations, life paths, skills, traits and so forth. Over the course of many months of coding time, this portion of the league was actually brought to near completion, allowing for the creation of a great variety of MW3 RPG characters.
There are still some bugs in the system, and as you create various characters you will occasionally run across a Field Skill Group or Skill Handler that has some coding issues. If you find a serious bug in the system, please report it on the NBT forums for us. Some things we will be able to address, while others may require coding outside of our current ability to correct.
The vast majority of the system is fully up and running though. As you make use of the system, you will find that the primary affiliations, life paths, events, skills and traits of the MW3 RPG have been included, as well as a variety from other source books: Covert Ops, Steiner Handbook and so forth. The system is such that a near infinite number of characters can be created and is able to be easily expanded to include additional source material from CBT.
Some “minor” changes have been made to various LP’s and event rolls to allow them to work within the online environment we have created, though most of these changes are minor in nature. The vast majority of the system remains amazingly true to its MW3 RPG roots, something we are quite proud of.
Gaining Access: If you would be interested in making use of this system, or just seeing what in the world I’m talking about, signing up for access if very easy. The only requirement is a forum account on the NBT HPG Uplink. After that, go to the NBT-Solaris Pilot Login page and use the same username/password to login. You may then make use of the system as you please.
The Future: While we are making this resource public access at this time, we do have somewhat of an ulterior motive in doing so. Though the coder originally in charge of completing the project is no longer available (real life concerns) we would love to be able to complete the necessary coding on all 3 stages of NBT-Solaris. Hopefully this public access will eventually attract such a coder, one with not only the skills, but the time and interest in bringing the project to completion.
If you have any questions/comments you can join the NBT HPG Uplink (and post in the NBT-Solaris forum Thor’s Shieldhall) present there. Feel free to review the NBT-Solaris website to see what the overall goal of this project is. Regardless, we offer this Online Character Creator to all who wish to make use of it as a gift to the Classic BattleTech community. CBT has been the basis of the NBT system of leagues for 10 years now, and a game that I personally have played for almost 2 decades. For that, if nothing else, I say thank you and hope that all who wish to enjoy the fruits of our labor.
Dark Phoenix | Nov-09-3068 | Stolen Technology Requirements Updated: The automation will keep track of all Cross-Tech ‘Mechs that are stolen or salvaged by each unit. Once you have acquired 35 of a specific chassis, you will gain the ability to Expand one of your factories to that chassis.
Required amount changed from 200 to 35. This will give some immediate access to some of our longtime units who have worked hard on getting their numbers up. It also gives some of the smaller units a more reasonable goal to reach towards.
Dark Phoenix | Nov-01-3068 | HC 1.4.2 Released: HC 1.4.2 has been released today and is now running on the HC servers. You may find details regarding changes and the download link at the HC Release Page.
Notes On This Version: Booster Pack #4 Micro-Patch. Security updates.
Dark Phoenix | Oct-30-3068 | NBT Automation Tutorial Online: Many of you have commented on this in the past month, but we wanted to make sure that all were aware of its inclusion. In the "Unit Archives" section of the automation you will find a link to the Automation Tutorial as compiled by MastaBlaster. This tutorial includes step by step instructions for all sections of the automation as well as links to the related rules sections.
Thanks to MastaBlaster for putting the time into this tutorial to help out our units, both old and new.
Dark Phoenix | Oct-07-3068 | HC 1.4.1 Released: HC 1.4.1 has been released today and is now running on the HC servers. You may find details regarding changes and the download link at the HC Release Page.
Notes On This Version: Booster Pack #4 Micro-Patch. Minor bug fixes for BP #4.
- Bot Scripts Updated: Thanks to work done by Giskard of Mechstorm, the bot scripts have been updated to make them more realistic, aggressive and reactionary based upon player actions.
- Known Issues: Claw description offline.
Dark Phoenix | Oct-01-3068 | HC 1.4.0 Delay: HC 1.4.0 had an error with the new security updates. We just about have it ready for re-release. If you were one of the 8-10 people who downloaded the update early this morning, you will need to do a reinstall of your HC Client. Easiest way to do this is to just run the NBT-Updater from the MW4 directory. It will install up to the latest version. HC 1.4.0 is a Milestone version, so if you wait until it is live, you will just need to do the single update, rather than multiple patches.
Everybody else will just need to use the auto-updater for the 1.3.3 -> 1.4.0 patch file. Our apologies for the delay.
Dark Phoenix | Oct-01-3068 | HC 1.4.0 Released: HC 1.4.0 has been released today and is now running on the HC servers. You may find details regarding changes and the download link at the HC Release Page.
Notes On This Version: Booster Pack #4 released to live servers. 3 new 'Mech models (Battlemaster, Kanazuchi, Marauder II). 1 new 'Mech variant. 3 new weapons. Variety of quality of life features and bug fixes. Several major security updates to the HC/HCB client.
- MWHosts.txt: Placing this file in your MW4 install directory will allow you to list additional servers in your MW4 server listing, regardless of ZoneMatch or MekMatch status. You may list as many servers as you like, though longer lists (10+) may cause some delay in initial server listing display.
- Security Updates: Several hacks of various natures have been introduced over the past year into the MW4 community. The latest security updates addresses these hacks, and prevents their use within the HC/HCB environment.
Note - It is mandatory that you delete all variants with the Clan ER PPC w/ Capacitor or Sniper or Thumper Artillery installed in your "VariantsHCB" folder before installing HC 1.4. If you install HC 1.4 before doing the deletes, you will need to use the Variants Checker from the Available Packages to manually delete those variants. It is recommended that you delete all Vulture MKII variants in your "VariantsHC" folder after installing HC 1.4.
- Known Issues: Claw description offline.
Dark Phoenix | Oct-01-3068 | HCB61-100106 Released: HCB61 has been released today and is now running on the HCB servers. You may find details regarding changes and the download link at the HCB Release Page.
Notes On This Version: BP#4 match tweaks.
Note – It is mandatory that you install the HC 1.4.0 patch before HCB61.
Known Issues: Claw descriptions offline.Dark Phoenix | Sep-22-3068 | Guerrilla Raid Functionality Modification: GRaids are a step up from normal Raids. They can be VERY disruptive, even destructive. After a successful Guerrilla Raid has been fought, the Attacker will need to determine what type of damage he wishes to do to the planet. Each planet may only have ONE successful Guerrilla Raid launched on it a month, regardless of the effect chosen. The size of this battle type is determined by the industry level of the planet being attacked (see below). The higher the industry, the more combat must be fought to disrupt the planet.
Each industry level has a Prime battle size associated with it that has a 50% chance of being used. The remaining 50% is split between the other possible battle sizes. This means that a GRaid can not be used to absolutely determine the industry level of a planet.
Note: While only a single open Minor Battle Slot is required for a GRaid to be launched, regardless of actual slot value. 1 and 3 drop GRaids take up a single slot; 5 drop GRaids take up 2 slots; 7 drop GRaids take up 3 slots.
- Less than 150 million - 1 (prime), 3 or 5 drops
- 150 to 250 million – 1, 3 (prime), 5, or 7 drops
- 250 to 400 million – 1, 3, 5 (prime), or 7 drops
- Higher than 400 million – 3, 5, or 7 (prime) drops
-----
As mentioned above, the purpose behind this change is to prevent a GRaid from being an absolute way to determine a planet's industry level. It does mean that a low industry planet may get a 3 or 5 drop GRaid, while a high industry planet could be decided by a 3 drop battle.
Dark Phoenix | Sep-01-3068 | HCB60-090106 Released: HCB60 has been released today and is now running on the HCB servers. You may find details regarding changes and the download link at the HCB Release Page.
Notes On This Version: Assorted Mech and Weapon tweaks. 2 new weapons. Vulture MKII test concept.
Note - It is recommended that you delete all Vulture MKII variants in your VariantsHCB folder after installing HCB60.
Known Issues: Claw descriptions offline. cRAC10/cRAC20 icons temporary. cRAC10 not showing up in correct weapon lists.

| Sep-01-3068 | Black Market Multiplier Ranges Reduced: With less 'Mechs being on the Black Market now, we have reduced the range of 'Mechs necessary for the discounts to start applying. This will result in generally lower prices on the Black Market, as well as hopefully more incentive to purchase from it. Units should start receiving more money from selling 'Mechs to the Auction House now as oppossed to Immediate Sales.
Dark Phoenix | Aug-28-3068 | Clan Black Market Opened: The Clan Black Market has been reactivated in the league. It is rather "swamped" right now as it has in it all the clan 'Mechs sold for the past year. Over the next 2 weeks it will slowly be trimmed to more manageable levels.
Dark Phoenix | Aug-14-3068 | HCB59-081406 Released: HCB59 has been released today and is now running on the HCB servers. You may find details regarding changes and the download link at the HCB Release Page.
Notes On This Version: MachineGun Revamp. Overhead Flare test concept. Vulture MKII test concept. Assorted Mech and Weapon tweaks. Laser (ER, Hvy, Pulse) Heat Spread redesign.
Note - It is recommended that you delete all Vulture MKII variants in your VariantsHCB folder after installing HCB59.
Known Issues: Claw descriptions offline.Dark Phoenix | Aug-03-3068 | HCB58-080306 Released: HCB58 has been released today and is now running on the HCB servers. You may find details regarding changes and the download link at the HCB Release Page.
Notes On This Version: Marauder II added. Several model updates and bug fixes.
Known Issues: Claw descriptions offline.Dark Phoenix | Jul-30-3068 | HCB57-073006 Released: HCB57 has been released today and is now running on the HCB servers. You may find details regarding changes and the download link at the HCB Release Page.
Notes On This Version: Battlemaster and Kanazuchi added (beginning of CoS -> NM4 -> HC collaboration). 1 new variant added. ER Laser family HeatSpread tweak. Giskard Advanced Bot Scripts added.
Note – It is mandatory that you delete all variants with the Clan ER PPC w/ Capacitor or Sniper or Thumper Artillery installed in your “VariantsHCB” folder before installing HCB57. If you install HCB57 before doing the deletes, you will need to use the Variants Checker from the Available Packages to manually delete those variants.
Please Note: These are the first ‘Mechs added through this new process. As such it is vitally important that they go through exhaustive testing regarding hit boxes, functionality, clipping, game crashes and so forth.
Known Issues: Claw descriptions offline.Dark Phoenix | Jul-04-3068 | Magnus Map Compilation 1.0 Integrated: The 7 maps compiled by Magnus for NBT league use have been activated today in the various terrain sets. These maps will now start showing up in your various map cycles, be they raids or planetary assaults. They have been loaded onto all NBT servers along with the necessary NFM and Cycle files.
These maps are available for download on the NBT Downloads page, as well as through the HC Available Packages tab in the Auto-Updater. This package weighs in at 22 meg. For further details regarding installation and availability see the NBT Downloads page.
Dark Phoenix | Jul-04-3068 | State Of The League – July 4th, 2006
“He shall from time to time give to the Congress information of the state of the union, and recommend to their consideration such measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient;”
Well guys, guess what? It has been a year since we officially launched the latest version of NBT. We’ve survived a lot over the course of the past year, despite predictions to the contrary. We’ve had our rough times (some still ongoing, hehe), but have come out on top in each situation. Some examples:
NBT-Servers: About a year ago it looked like NBT would lose one of its core features, namely 3rd party dedicated servers for league and public use. The league stepped up, and not only purchased the servers, but has fulfilled its promise to cover the monthly hosting costs for the past year. Through this support, NBT has retained this ability to provide solid servers for our players, as well as others (NBT-Sunder for example). In fact, on many a night, around 30-40% of the MW4 players online are playing on NBT servers. We hope to expend this further, as we are working out a system where VnR will also be using the NBT servers for their drops as well. Thanks to Traxxas’ efforts regarding some hardware issues, as of July 1st, all NBT servers are fully up and running.
NBT-HC: HC development continued well through the creation of 3 Booster Packs for the league, providing a wealth of new ‘Mechs, weapons and options for the players to make use of. While at present further development of HCB is slow, we are pleased to inform the public that the ability to add ‘Mechs has been brought back online (of a sort). As most know, when the HC Dev Team reorganized, that ability was lost with the departure of EvilCow and Scanner. While they have moved on to their own project, an agreement has been reached that will allow for the pending ‘Mechs that the Clash of Steel and HC Modeling Forum participants have developed to be included in both HC and NM4. This includes such chassis as the Battlemaster, Kanazuchi, Lobo, Centaur, Stooping Hawk, Dervish and many others, including the Stone Rhino. We hope to have the first of these new ‘Mechs brought online very soon, and Booster Pack #4 to follow soon thereafter.
Units & Pilots: NBT has a long history of going through highs and lows in regards to both units and pilots. Summer especially is a tight time for NBT, and each year is predicted to be the last when it comes to people heading off on vacation, spending time outside (shudder) and other similar summer-like activities. Despite this, NBT has always survived each summer. At present we have all 5 Houses filled, providing the core basis of the league. We have a strong WoB and CJF and an incoming Wolf (unit transfer), as well as a supporting cast of Mercs, Clans, Periphery and Pirates.
Several of the Houses have been having a harder time finishing up their battle load as they would like, especially with the summer months upon us, so we have added some additional abilities to Mercs in order to help in this regard, so they may more easily help with the Houses battle load, keeping the league moving apace, while not burning out our core units. We also have several new Merc units entering into the league, a couple of them coming directly from PR1 play thanks to word spread by previous PR1 -> HC units that have joined NBT. Yes, that’s right. There are actually new pilots entering the league, even at this late date.
NBT-Classic: While this project has stalled, it has not been forgotten. I am personally in the middle of a move right now (we bought our first home). After the middle of July, we will be settled after our move, and I will be able to return attention to this project, and working with Traxxas will reform the Classic Dev Team to bring the project to completion.
-----
As always, NBT has its highs and its lows. Regardless, NBT remains that which keeps people playing, and yes, even keeps drawing them back time and again: A strong part of the MW4 community, where people enjoy to play both with their friends, and against their enemies. NBT has been around in one form or another for almost 10 years now. Some of the members of the league have been with us since that beginning (I still have that original XLS file that started all of this). NBT has come a long way since then and hopefully still has a long way to go in the years to come.
Here’s to all that have made NBT what it has been, still is, and will be.

Dark Phoenix | Jun-25-3068 | MekMatch & NBT Servers: Official Announcement: As of today we have switched the NBT-Server System over to using MekTek's MekMatch ZoneMatch replacement system. All servers are now broadcasting to the service.
In your HC-Updater Available Packages you will find a new package entitled "MekMatch Registry Update". Simply install this package and your registry will be updated to make use of the new system, rather than the obsolute MS ZoneMatch.
We wish to thank MekTek for making this system available to all, and we look forward continuing to play all versions of MW4 through this system.

Dark Phoenix | Jun-25-3068 | Additional Merc Battle-Transfer Functionality: To date, battles could be transferred to Mercs if they were House Mercs, or if they had Allied Garrison present on planet. An additional option has been added, namely transferring to a Merc that has a Jumpship in-system. This transfer may occur at ANY time, even after the 18-hour window, over even 2 months into a Planetary Assault. There is some potential room for abuse with this option, so we shall be watching it carefully. It can be disabled on a per-unit basis if necessary.
Merc Contract Jump Costs Decreased: Specifically the cost of jumping the Magellan Class Jumpships (Light) has been decreased to 10,000,000. This is in association with the above change.
MRBC Rating Change - Combat Record: This factor only includes missions transferred to Merc control by other units over the course of the last 90 days or that they shared allied status with (Allied Attack or Allied Garrison). A Merc units own missions are not included in its Dragoon Rating. The 90 day cutoff also demands that a Merc remain active in order to maintain their rating, while at the same time allowing for a bad run of drops to eventually fade away. ALL battles are equally weighted at this time (PA, GRaid, Raid, Recon).
-----
The purpose of these changes, and some upcoming ones are to make is easier for Mercs to be able to handle many of the Houses Minor Battles, thus allowing the league in general to run smoother.
Dark Phoenix | Jun-08-3068 | Magnus Map Compilation 1.0 Integration: The 7 maps compiled by Magnus for NBT league use are available for download on the NBT Downloads page, as well as through the HC Available Packages tab in the Auto-Updater. This package weighs in at 22 meg. For further details regarding installation and availability see the NBT Downloads page.
These maps will be activated in the automation on Monday, June 19th. Please make sure your pilots have them available for use, be it through MP3, Available Packages or direct download.
Dark Phoenix | May-19-3068 | HC 1.3.3 Released: HC 1.3.3 has been released today and is now running on the HC servers. You may find details regarding changes and the download link at the HC Release Page.
Notes On This Version: Booster Pack #3 Micro-Patch. 3 new weapons. Introduces HCB Laser and UAC rebalances to live version. A number of Quality of Life updates, as well as the Assault Armor Upgrade, Advanced Gyro Distribution and IFF Functionality Modification. New map package available for download. Light Amplification tweaked.
- Known Issues: Sunder JJ animations incorrect. Claw description offline.
- Assault Armor Upgrade: All Assault ‘Mechs (80-100 tons) have received an available armor boost. This does not give them free armor, but rather gives them the ability to spend some of their existing tonnage on more armor than their lighter cousins.
- Advanced Gyro Distribution: AG has been added to a variety of additional ‘Mechs, for both the Clan and IS. Original distribution was less than a dozen ‘Mechs total. Role-Play Reasoning: The Clans have developed Advanced Gyro technology in response to the large variety of IS ballistic weaponry fielded against them (Light Gauss, Heavy Gauss, HVAC, AC, UAC, LBX, RAC, etc).
- IFF Functionality Modification: The Missile Lock effect of IFF has been substantially increased. It is greater than ECM, but still lacks the radar range advantages. Role-Play Reasoning: The IS has developed an improved anti-missile electronics package in response to the wide variety of Clan missile packages they are facing (ATM-E, ATM-M, ATM-H, Streak LRM, LRM, etc).
Dark Phoenix | May-18-3068 | HCB56-051806 Released: HCB56 has been released today and is now running on the HCB servers. You may find details regarding changes and the download link at the HCB Release Page.
Notes On This Version: Quick tweaks in preperation for HC 1.3.3 release. Weapons flash returned to Light Amp.
Known Issues: Sunder JJ animations incorrect. Claw description offline.

| May-14-3068 | NBT-IRC Functionality Expanded: We are bringing a web based interface to the NBT-IRC server online. At present this interface is only in beta mode, but we shall be working on it over the coming weeks, adding functionality and updating the style to match the rest of the NBT site.
We hope you enjoy this new option provided to the NBT League System: NBT-IRC Web Interface
Dark Phoenix | May-01-3068 | HCB55-050106 Released: HCB55 has been released today and is now running on the HCB servers. You may find details regarding changes and the download link at the HCB Release Page.
Notes On This Version: Assault Armor Upgrade. Light Amplification Tweak. Additional Key-0 Stock functionality: Stock enabled/disabled now shows up in the lobby to help cut down on confusion with the new Stock system. New map package available for download (to be used by league later this month).
- Assault Armor Upgrade: All Assault ‘Mechs (80-100 tons) have received an available armor boost. This does not give them free armor, but rather gives them the ability to spend some of their existing tonnage on more armor than their lighter cousins.
- Known Issues: Sunder JJ animations incorrect. Claw description offline.
Dark Phoenix | Apr-13-3068 | NBT HPG Uplink - Administrator's Digest Online: With NBT developing several different projects at the same time currently, it is easier to make NBT-wide announcements in a single forum, rather than in a plethora of seperate forums or news services.
Announcements will primarily deal with major events (launching projects), or items that affect all leagues/projects (admins offline) or reminders to the league supporters (donations status).
Thank you all for your time, attention and support.

We have also activated a new usergroup named "NBT Messaging System". This group is designed for all those who wish to receive updates regarding the various NBT leagues and league systems. This is not a "spam" listing. Only important announcements will be made through this system, similar in effect to the Administrator's Digest forum.
It is STRONGLY recommended that all league Unit Leaders join this group, as well as all members who are currently playing in any of the NBT leagues.

Dark Phoenix | Apr-04-3068 | Word of Blake Jihad Begins: ComStar News is now reporting a major shake up in the alliances of the Major Houses, as well as the role that Word of Blake has been playing as a ComStar provider. Please stay tuned for further RP development.
How This Works: To begin with, as I have stated previously, NBT is not following the Dark Age storyline, nor will it be turning into that universe. Simply put, the nutty actions of the Wobbies during their Jihad provides a host of opportunities to shake up the league somewhat and give options to many units for some interesting RP to go along with it.
Word of Blake will be going after all the IS Houses, as well as a number of other targets, working in conjunction with the League Admins in the picking of targets as well as some specific RP-based attacks. This is being done to spread out the Jihad as much as possible, so that while it will have a direct effect on the league, it will not be decimating to any single unit.
The IS Houses are also working under a 2-Ally concept at this time, allowing them to have a maximum of 2 House Allies to work with, while having 2 House Opponents to share battles with. Our now having 5 fully active Major Houses allows this concept to be put into play at this time. We have been working with the Houses to setup the system, and will be helping to maintain it over the coming months.
The result should be that we see a fair amount of battles launched not only in the center of the Inner Sphere, but also along a number of House borders, some in areas not previously seeing action.
-----
On a related note, March 2006 was one of the busiest months to date for NBT-HC, and now with all 5 Houses active, the major Periphery, and 4 additional units coming into the league in the coming weeks, April promises to top even that. Our great thanks goes out to all those who partipate in NBT, both the units and the individual pilots.
-Salute-
Dark Phoenix | Mar-17-3068 | NBT-Classic PLT Phase 1 Open For Business
We are pleased to announce the launching of Phase 1 of the NBT-Classic Pre-League Tournament (PLT)! The purpose of the various phases of this PLT will be to provide to the Development Team needed data and drop experiences to help mold the new league into a viable format: A NBT style league, making use of the MegaMek Client. We would like to welcome all with an interest in furthering this goal and who wish to participate in this PLT ladder to feel free to sign up and join in.
PLT Phase 1 is a simplified ladder system, running very similar to the PLT that NBT has used prior to the launch of its previous two leagues (Mercs and HC). It will be managed through the forums, with a system of challenges and challengers. Each participant will receive an available unit listing that they have to select from for each match. The goal of Phase 1 is primarily to determine how much can be accomplished within a specific time period (60 minutes to start). Each drop will have set conditions, including map size, allowed Battle Value, Pilot stats and so forth. Once you have completed the drop, you will report the winner and upload your gamelog.txt file for review.
The rankings of the PLT will be updated daily, and all who participate in the various Phases of the PLT will receive monetary awards at the start of the NBT-Classic league, the size of the reward being tied to your level of participation, as well as how you did. More matches means a larger award; more wins means an even an even larger award.
For further information please refer to the NBT-Classic PLT Phase 1 Signup thread.
The NBTC Leader's Lounge and Battle Arrangements will be open for all to view during the PLT, though only participants may actually post. Further discussion regarding NBTC development should still continue in the existing NBT-Classic Development forum.
Further NBT-Classic announcements will be posted on the NBT-Classic League Updates page.
Dark Phoenix | Mar-17-3068 | NBT-HC Servercycle Generator: The Servercycle Generator has been added as an option within the league automation on each units' server request page. Simply click on the button provided and it will provide you with access to the servercycles of that particular night. You can also review the cycles for pending battles, referencing them by Unit Name or Battle ID.
This should help in those instances where a unit needs to be able to vote in their own drops. The generator will provide the exact drop listing you will need to use. For example: -vote map EquinoxGR500V2R1
Dark Phoenix | Mar-14-3068 | NBT-Solaris Stage 2 Progress Update: A brief but important update thread has been posted on the HPG regarding picking back up the NBT-Solaris project. Please review and post your thoughts on the subject. We are looking to determine the level of potential support for this pending project and bringing it to completion.

Dark Phoenix | Mar-11-3068 | HCB54-031106 Released: HCB54 has been released today and is now running on the HCB servers. You may find details regarding changes and the download link at the HCB Release Page.
Notes On This Version: Sniper Artillery and ALRM tweaks. Various bug fixes and HC compliance matches. A couple Shelf ‘Mech revamps Fire Moth, HGN-732, Black Knights, Urban Mechs). Advanced Gyro increased distribution. IFF functionality modification. Mechlab Engine Type mouseover (details differences in 3 engine types). Mechlab Internals Type mouseover (details differences in 2 internals types). 20 ton ‘Mech armor correction.
- Known Issues: Sunder JJ animations incorrect. Claw description offline.
Dark Phoenix | Mar-11-3068 | Over-Garrison / Over-Attack Penalty Amounts Corrected: Due to an in correct value in the automation, units have been being charged too much in penalties for OG/OA. The value has been corrected, and Viking has tracked down the affected PA's, returning the additional funds to the unit banks. Sorry for the mixup.
Dark Phoenix | Mar-01-3068 | HC 1.3.2 Released: HC 1.3.2 has been released today and is now running on the HC servers. You may find details regarding changes and the download link at the HC Release Page.
Notes On This Version: Booster Pack #3 Micro-Patch. Variety of bug fixes and quality of life upgrades. A number of stat corrections in errors from BP #3. AC tonnage revamp; HC-Reboot Agility Boost; 7X slot upgrades. The Stock Signature System is being fully brought online for league use at this time as well (see Available Packages for download).
- Known Issues: Sunder JJ animations incorrect. Claw description offline.
- 7X Slots: 7M, 7O, 7E slots granted to variety of ‘Mechs to allow for expanded usage of Large Pulse, Plasma Rifle, LRM15/A, ATM9.
- HC-Reboot Agility Boost: Response to the recent agility discussions and polls has prompted us to grant a small agility boost to the ‘Mechs of HC. While the response was primarily in favor of a boost, it was not overwhealmingly so (many like the current numbers); therefore the scale of the boost is designed to be modest in application. Each Weight Class has been boosted in specific agility areas. See Appendix for specific numbers.
- Armor Corrections: Several ‘Mechs had armor for the wrong tonnage (Ice Ferret, Templar); some had Endo Steel applied (Stiletto, Templar); a few just received minor tweaks to correct errors.
- Key-0 Stock Signature System Package: In the Available Packages tab you will find the Key-0 Stock Signature Package. This will allow any of these variants to be used in Key-0 stock league drops, rather than only a single chassis as is normal in stock drops. Activation of this system server side is similar to the HideTech and PureTech Enforcers, in this case adding a [0] to the NFM file entries. This package includes all 338 approved variants.
Note – It is mandatory that you delete all Stiletto and Templar variants in your “VariantsHC” folder after installing HC 1.3.2.
Dark Phoenix | Mar-01-3068 | Stock Signature System Brought Online: The Key-0 Stock Signature System has been brought fully online. The Available Packages tab has been updated and the 338 variants are downloadable in a single 660KB file for use within league drops. Thus from March 1st onward, when you have Stock drops in NBT-HC, you will have 338 variants to choose from, rather than only 139. There are 2 actual packages, one for HC and one for HCB. They are identical to one another, they just install in different directories.
When a stock drop comes up, you simply choose any of the variants, which are denoted by a +Name (0); for example: +AGS-2D (0). To drop in stock drops you may still use the stock version of the 'Mechs available with the game, but to gain access to this expanded functionality you will need to download the package available (approx. 660KB). Some 'Mechs will be greatly helped by this system in stock drops, while others it will provide no benefit at this time. For example, the Fire Falcon now has 7 approved stock variants that may be used, while the Kodiak only has a single variant available.
Please note: You may install and uninstall this package at will. Thus if you find that the additional variants clutter up your variants folder, simply install the package only when you have stock drops that night, and then uninstall it when the nights' drops are completed. The NBT Updater will add and remove all the correct variant files from your directory for you with no problems.
Eventually a Key-8 pack will be created that will further enhance this feature, balancing these stock chassis around how they work in MW4, rather than simply what was present in CBT TRO.
NBT-Commando has been setup as a Key-0 Stock server to provide a platform for this style of play.
Dark Phoenix | Mar-01-3068 | Booster Pack #3 Factory Updates Completed: The most recent updates to the league factories for the 'Mechs released in Booster Pack #3 have been completed. This includes production for such 'Mechs as the Marauder MAD-9S, Victor VTR-10L, Thunderbolt TDR-10SE, Thunderbolt TDR-5S, Warhammer WHM-9D, Rifleman RFL-5M, Longbow LGB-12C, Commando COM-7S, Argus AGS-2D and Archer ARC-7L.
As you are aware, these were held back for a time due to potential balance concerns presented in BP #3. Changes were made to the Argus, Archer and Victor. The new Marauder is primarily controlled by production limitations. The remaining 'Mechs should present no problems regarding league balance.
A Booster Pack of 'Mechs of each of these chassis should be delivered this morning to each unit's capital, allowing for each unit to have initial access to a limited number of these additional chassis.
Dark Phoenix | Feb-26-3068 | HC 1.3.2 Scheduled for Release: HC 1.3.2 will be released to live servers and all clients on Wednesday, March 1st, 2006. Please make sure both you and your fellow teammates are updated by Wednesday night for league drops. Patch size will be under 1 meg.
Notes On This Version: Booster Pack #3 Micro-Patch. Variety of bug fixes and quality of life upgrades. A number of stat corrections in errors from BP #3. AC tonnage revamp; HC-Reboot Agility Boost; 7X slot upgrades. Stock Signature System is being fully brought online for league use at this
time as well.
This is only a partial transfer of updates from the current HCB package. Many of the "in-flux" aspects of HCB are not being transferred over at this time, pending further testing.
-----
Stock Signature System Being Brought Online: Also on March 1st, the Key-0 SSS system will be brought fully online. The Available Packages tab has already been updated and the 339 variants are downloadable in a single 660KB file for use within league drops. Thus from March 1st onward, when you have Stock drops in NBT-HC, you will have 338 variants to choose from, rather than only 139.
You can now download and review these signed variants, though the Key-0 SSS will not be brought online until March 1st. Please note that several of these variants will not work properly until HC 1.3.2 comes online as they are dependent on a variety of slot changes made within that patch. NBT-Commando has been setup as a Key-0 Stock server to provide a platform for this style of play.
-----
Booster Pack #3 Pending 'Mechs: Several of the delayed 'Mechs from BP #3 will also be brought online in the automation on March 1st due to balancing changes made in HC 1.3.2. We thank you for your patience in regards to these 'Mechs.
Dark Phoenix | Feb-21-3068 | HCB53-022106 Released: HCB53 has been released today and is now running on the HCB servers. You may find details regarding changes and the download link at the HCB Release Page.
Notes On This Version: IS ER Laser Family tweaks. HVAC heat reduced. Weapon price updates (no effect on actual game). 2 test weapons removed.
- Known Issues: Sunder JJ animations incorrect. Claw description offline.
Note – It is mandatory that you delete all variants with either the DFLRM20 or Coolant Fluid Gun installed in your “VariantsHCB” folder before installing HCB53. If you install HCB53 before doing the deletes, you will need to use the Variants Checker from the Available Packages to manually delete those variants.
Dark Phoenix | Feb-19-3068 | MekTek MekPak 3.02 Updates: The HC, HCB and PR1 install packages to account for the MP 3.02 update are now online and accessable to the public. This means that all three NBT mods can now be installed over a MP 3.02 installation.
NBT-Sunder will be updated to the latest MP3.x version sometime in the next couple days.
Dark Phoenix | Feb-18-3068 | Black Market Function Updates: The IS Black Market functions have been updated today. The %'s for 'Mechs purchased from the Black Market now range from 50-250% (down from 200-250%). 'Mechs that have greater numbers within the Black Market system will cost substantially less.
There will also be a gradual attrition of 'Mechs that are direct sold to the Black Market (from Pirates and Mercs or immediate sales by other units). This will enable 'Mechs in delayed sale mode to potentially increase in value over time.
Dark Phoenix | Feb-13-3068 | Counter-Attack PA Rules Updated: If the Defender looses a Planetary Assault he can counterattack this lost planet within 4 weeks (increased from 2 weeks) from the date this PA is reported and confirmed. This MUST involve the same two primary units although now in opposite roles. Counter-Attacks bypass normal defensive battle limits.
Dark Phoenix | Feb-09-3068 | HCB52-020906 Released: HCB52 has been released today and is now running on the HCB servers. You may find details regarding changes and the download link at the HCB Release Page.
Notes On This Version: Tweaks based primarily on new weapon additions. Thanatos bonus/malus trade.
- Known Issues: Sunder JJ animations incorrect. Claw description offline.
Dark Phoenix | Feb-07-3068 | NBT Server Bank Fully Online: Through a LOT of hard work on Traxxas' part, the last 5 servers of the NBT Server Bank are now fully online and ready for use. Adder, Anubis, Archer, Commando and Cougar should now be appearing in your server listing. They are available for both public and league drops.
We thank you very much for your patience in our getting these servers back up and running.
Dark Phoenix | Feb-07-3068 | System Defense Station (SDS) Rules Expanded: If multiple SDS variables exist on the same planet, then the SDS percentages are all increased by 10% for each variable (4 maximum). Thus a planet with high industry, a Charge Station and a Capital (3 variables) would have an 80% chance of SDS repelling 55% of the enemy forces. A planet with low industry, a Charge Station and a factory (2 variables) would have a 70% chance of SDS repelling 35% of the enemy forces.
Dark Phoenix | Feb-06-3068 | HCB51-020606 Released: HCB51 has been released today and is now running on the HCB servers. You may find details regarding changes and the download link at the HCB Release Page.
Notes On This Version: 3 new weapons. Elemental function updates. High-Def Audio Rollback.
- Elemental Updates: The Elemental now weighs 5 tons in game, freeing up tonnage in team-tonnage based drops. The Dedicated Server has been updated to allow for this lowered tonnage.
- High-Def Audio Rollback: Sounds have been reverted to previous files at this time, pending further consideration and review.
- Known Issues: Sunder JJ animations incorrect. Claw description offline.
Note – It is mandatory that you delete all Elemental variants in your “VariantsHCB” folder after installing HCB51.
Dark Phoenix | Feb-06-3068 | Booster Pack #2 and #3 Factory Updates Completed: The most recent updates to the league factories for the 'Mechs released in Booster Packs #2 and #3 have been completed. This includes production for such 'Mechs as the Marauder MAD-5L, Crusader CDR-5K, Crusader CDR-8S, Griffin GRF-1N, Thunderbolt TDR-9M, Thunderbolt TDR-9NAIS, Flea FLE-15, Champion CHP-3N, Catapult CPLT-C5, Bushwacker BSW-L1, Hellfire-2, Nemesis NMS-1S, and Vulture MK II.
The Hellfire-1, Jenner IIC-2 and Fire Falcon had already been completed.
The remaining 'Mechs from BP #3 are still pending at this time.
Dark Phoenix | Feb-01-3068 | HCB50-020106 Released: HCB50 has been released today and is now running on the HCB servers. You may find details regarding changes and the download link at the HCB Release Page.

- 7X Slots:7M, 7O, 7E slots granted to variety of ‘Mechs to allow for expanded usage of Large Pulse, Plasma Rifle, LRM15/A, ATM9.
- Weapon Changes:Continuation of current weapon concept testing. HVAC 2 & 5 speeds need focused testing for NDB.
- HCB-Reboot Agility Boost: Response to the recent agility discussions and polls has prompted us to test a small agility boost to the ‘Mechs of HCB. While the response was primarily in favor of a boost, it was not overwhealmingly so (many like the current numbers); therefore the scale of the boost is designed to be modest in application. Each Weight Class has been boosted in specific agility areas.

Notes On This Version: Ultra AC and ER Laser family rebalance testing. 1 new weapon. Variety of ‘Mech corrections (slots, electronics, armor values).
- Coolant Fluid Gun: This is a Solaris based weapon designed to cool down the targeted ‘Mech. This weapon is in alpha testing.
- Ultra AC’s: Damage brought to 2x normal AC’s with overtime as basis. AC’s: Tonnage reduction.
- ER Lasers: Using CBT stats as general basis for future HCB tweaking.
- Armor Corrections: Several ‘Mechs had armor for the wrong tonnage (Ice Ferret, Templar); some had Endo Steel applied (Stiletto, Templar); a few just received minor tweaks to correct errors.
- Known Issues: Several weapons icons have alpha transparency errors. HideTech Enforcer is offline.
Note – It is mandatory that you delete all Stiletto and Templar variants in your “VariantsHCB” folder after installing HCB49.

Dark Phoenix | Dec-21-3067 | HC Dev Team Reorganization
As some of you may have heard, the HC Dev Team is going through a reorganization period at the moment. Due to differing opinions regarding organization and further development of the HC project, Evilcow and Scanner have decided to take an extended hiatus from the project. The duration of this hiatus is unknown at this time. Both have done wonders for the HC project over the past 18 months, making much of what we have done possible, as well as providing excellent coding skills and viewpoint on the base balance of the game. While they will be sorely missed, we do respect their decision to take this break and they leave with full honors for all their past work within the HC project.
Where does this leave HC as regards BP #3 and future development? We are in both a good and bad position. We retain a variety of skills and tools within the Dev Team at present, though we are missing some. HC can still add weapons, make changes to ‘Mechs and weapons, as well as various other content areas. We can create and deploy patches and updates (see HCB48).
We do have several areas that are considered delayed or offline. The ability to add 'Mechs and modify HBB's are considered offline at present, though we are working on regaining that ability (it is an unknown quantity at this time). BP #3 isn't quite finished at this time, with some things being in areas we still have to learn about (elemental coding, server side security and so forth, primarily things introduced since the BP #2). Some of these things may prove to be beyond our current skill set though. These concepts are pending at the present time, though we are already knocking some of them out.
As such, we’re going to be doing some reorganizing and striving to get up to date in order to release BP #3 in a completed state. Unfortunately this may mean a delay on the release of BP #3 while we get up to speed. We will be working very hard over the course of the next 10 days to make the Jan 1st target date. We just put together Release Candidate #1 (RC1) so we are hopeful at this point in reaching that target.
Eventually, we will be looking to bring several additional people into the HC Dev Team, with at least modest coding skills of some sort. At present the HC Dev Team is broken down as follows:
HC Team Lead – Dark Phoenix
Core Programming – Toxicsoul, Dark Phoenix supporting
Graphics Programming - Offline
Documentation – Gohan
Public Relations – Dark Phoenix, Traxxas
Reserve Members – Pestilence Vewas (deployed)
Concept Development Team – Dark Phoenix, Gohan, Toxicsoul, Traxxas
We appreciate your patience as we work through this period. Hopefully we will soon be able to pick back up development of the HC/HCB projects from BP #3 onward.
To the modelers: The Clash of Steel team has already received a heads up on this change, and they will be focusing on CoS modeling for the time being until if/when we bring back online the ability to add new 'Mechs. To the public modelers that have works in progress, feel free to continue development. It is good practice, and hopefully eventually we will have the ability to add these 'Mechs to HC. If not though, they may still be usable one day in regards to a CoS CBT-based mod, as well as possibly your own inclusion in that project.

Dark Phoenix | Dec-19-3067 | HCB48-121905 Released: HCB48 has been released today and is now running on the HCB servers. You may find details regarding changes and the download link at the HCB Release Page.
Notes On This Version: A couple updates based on community feedback. Heavy Laser sounds updated.
Dark Phoenix | Dec-17-3067 | Stealth / EMCOM Jump Changes: A change has been made to the way that EMCOM jumps are handled in the league. If a battle has been launched on a planet in the last 30 days, then all stealth rolls on that planet will automatically fail and a Trespass Dispute will result. This applies to both Normal Jumps and Pirate Point Jumps.
Dark Phoenix | Dec-13-3067 | HC 1.2.3 Released: HC 1.2.3 has been released today and is now running on the HC servers. You may find details regarding changes and the download link at the HC Release Page.
Notes On This Version: Booster Pack #2 Micro-Patch . Major security updates for HC and HCB brought online. This will necessitate the removal of some of your variants if you have not removed old variants in the past. To help facilitate this new security, you will find a Variant Checker in your Available Packages window. Download and run this utility to determine which variants need to be removed from your VariantsHC folder.
Note - It is mandatory that you delete all Hellfire, Cauldron Born and Cauldron Born B variants in your “VariantsHC” folder after installing HC1.2.3.
Dark Phoenix | Dec-04-3067 | HCB47-120405 Released: HCB47 has been released today and is now running on the HCB servers. You may find details regarding changes and the download link at the HCB Release Page.
Notes On This Version: Initial High-Def Pack Audio update. A variety of audio packages were chosen from the HDP and integrated with the HCB Client. Many thanks to Starfire for his help with this portion of the project.
Also included in the Available Packages is the PR1-Mod, allowing players to make use of and connect to PR1 servers from a single install of MW4.
Note – It is mandatory that you delete all Hellfire-1, Hellfire-2, Cauldron Born Prime, Cauldron Born B variants in your “VariantsHCB” folder after installing HCB47.
Dark Phoenix | Dec-01-3067 | December 2005 Rules Updates: Some league changes for December. Many of these are based upon the Wishlist threads from the Player's and Leader's Lounges. Some are still in development, but these are the ones we're ready to bring online.
9 Pilot Drops - While 9 pilots are allowed in Raids, Guerrilla Raids and Planetary Assaults, the league default drop is 8 vs 8. If both teams agree to drop 9 pilots then this is allowed and should be decided in the official Battle Arrangements thread.. Otherwise, both teams should plan on 8 vs 8 drops.
Political Instability Update (Duration) - PI Mode will continue for a period of 30 days, eventually stabilizing on its own. A unit may choose to drop money into correcting the situation though (equal to 50% of planetary industry) at the 20 day mark.
Factory Creation Times Reduced - Creation of a brand new factory now takes 20 days, and the Expansion of an existing factory now takes 10 days.
Transport Jump Costs Reduced - Transport jump costs have been reduced to 10% of former costs, making them the least expensive transport method for many units.
Jumpship Purchase Costs Reduced - All Jumpship purchase costs have been reduced by 50%.
Dark Phoenix | Nov-30-3067 | HCB46-113005 Released: HCB46 has been released today and is now running on the HCB servers. You may find details regarding changes and the download link at the HCB Release Page.
Notes On This Version: Several HBB updates. Engine Type now listed in ‘Mechlab. Multiple ‘Mech Stat bug fixes (bonus/malus points; Endo Steel on FNR-5).
Note – It is mandatory that you delete all Fafnir variants in your “VariantsHCB” folder after installing HCB46.
Dark Phoenix | Nov-29-3067 | NBT-HC Updater 1.4.3 Released: Today we're released the latest version of the NBT Updater. This new version has several substantial updates included that should make it much more user friendly for the community at large.
HC Client Download
HCB Client Download
1) You no longer have to download a Milestone Version and update from there. Simply download the NBT Updater, place it in your MW4 directory and run it. It will take care of the rest of the install process for you, including uninstallers, incremental patches and the like.
2) You may now install HC over a MP2.1a, MP3.0 or MP3.01 install. The Updater will recognize your core.mw4 file, and download the needed packages to bring you to the latest HC version. As future MP3.x patches are released, additional packages will be made available.
3) HC Uninstall is now handled through the Updater, no longer requiring the original install program.
4) It is no longer necessary to run the HC Enabler as part of the install process, as the Updater handles this itself. The Enabler is still present in case it is needed during future MP3.x patch updates.
5) HCB is now installed through the Updater, rather than as a seperate package. Choose the HCB installer from the Available Packages tab. All of the above points are true for a HCB installation as well.
In short, this makes it so that you can have MP3.x (or MP2.1a) as well as the latest HC and the latest HCB in the same directory, without having to resort to unweildy dual installs. You will potentially end up with 2 shortcuts on your desktop, one for HC, another for HCB (if installed). Both will allow for the running of the chosen NBT mod as well as the installed MekTek mod, without conflicts.
Please note - You do not NEED to download this Updater if you already have HC or HCB installed. You only need it if you are doing a fresh installation. Your Updater will be updated to 1.4.3 either in HCB46 or in the next update to HC (most likely Booster Pack #3).
We hope you enjoy this latest improvement.

Notes On This Version: Booster Pack #2 Micro-Patch. Introduces MP3.0 compatibility. After you update to 1.2.1, run the HCEnabler.exe found in your Mercs directory. Activate HC. From that point on you should be able to run both HC and MP3 using the normal auto-updater/launcher.
You will need to create a new pilot for HC use after activating this patch.
The only issue you "may" run into (depending on how MT chooses to run their updates) is during a MP3 upgrade (to MP3.0.1 or MP3.1 or MP3.1.1 or etc). If that is the case, simply rerun the HCEnabler.exe, choosing the MP3 option. Install the MP3 upgrade(s), and then use the enabler to reactivate HC.
We are happy to provide this option so that you can use both mods without kludgy dual installs, or being forced to choose one mod over another in your play.
Dark Phoenix | Oct-30-3067 | HCB43-103005 Released: HCB43 has been released today and is now running on the HCB servers. You may find details regarding changes and the download link at the HCB Release Page.
Notes On This Version: 12 variants added. Existing variants tweaked to account for separation. Special Elemental Electronics added to game to allow for balanced placement on Elementals.
Dark Phoenix | Oct-24-3067 | HCB42-102405 Released: HCB42 has been released today and is now running on the HCB servers. You may find details regarding changes and the download link at the HCB Release Page.
Notes On This Version: Elemental model included. Standard Internals rules applied to relevant ‘Mechs (structure bonus on arms and legs). Variety of new weapons, both for ‘Mechs and Elementals.
Dark Phoenix | Oct-18-3067 | Political Instability Change: Black Market 'Mechs may no longer be purchased on PI planets. This is designed to level the playing field on the tech divide. In NBT-Mercs both sides had access to the Black Market, so it wasn't an issue. In NBT-HC the Clans do not have Black Market access, so it presented an imbalance.
Dark Phoenix | Oct-17-3067 | ComStar News Variable Added: The ComStar News page now tracks the total number of Completed Drops in the league, counting each seperate GRaid and PA drop as a seperate battle. Completed Battles are still counted as well.
NBT-Rules PDF Online: Thanks to the efforts of MastaBlaster, the NBT Rules are now available in PDF format on the NBT Rules page. Also added are revision dates for both the HTML and the PDF rules, so that you will know when the latest updates have been uploaded.
Dark Phoenix | Oct-16-3067 | HCB41-101605 Released: HCB41 has been released today and is now running on the HCB servers. You may find details regarding changes and the download link at the HCB Release Page.
Notes On This Version: Elemental testing begins. Initial implementation is simply an Atlas scaled down until an Elemental model is provided. 3 variants added. Light Engine concept added and applied to 7 ‘Mechs. Knock parameter rules have been created and applied to all ‘Mechs.
Note – It is mandatory that you delete all Hellfire variants in your “VariantsHCB” folder after installing HCB41. It is recommended that you delete all ARC-6S, BSW-L1, HGN-734, HBK-5S, STK-8S, STO-4B and WLF-3S variants in your “VariantsHCB” folder after installing HCB41 due to the Light Engine implementation.
Dark Phoenix | Oct-09-3067 | NBT HPG Uplink Expansion: We have several new sections on our HPG Uplink tonight. The goals of these forums are to facilitate communication between players of various games, as well as possibly to generate additional interest in NBT.
-----
NBT-Classic Project: NBT is researching starting a new sister league, namely NBT-Classic. An idea that I have toyed with in the past, but never really pursued, was to develop a NBT league that would combine use of the MegaMek game client with the NBT league system. Darkhorse brought this up in a thread recently, and initial support seemed to be good.
As such, we are opening up a forum for discussion of the mechanics and process involved in developing such a project. It should be noted that this is not a replacement to NBT-HC, nor is it designed to interact in any way with that league. It would be a seperate project, with its own units, players, automation and map. Players could of course participate in either league.
Potentially this could bring some additional attention to the NBT-HC league as well as proving additional support for NBT in general.
Salute to Tach Deneva for the current project name: NBT-Classic
-----
Alternative Gaming Forums: We have opened 4 new forums specifically for the discussion of games other than MW4. While NBT is of course based primarily around the MW4 game platform, we do vaguely recognize that there are other games that people may choose to play when not engrossed with MW4. As such we are expanding our forums to allow for game specific discussion. We also welcome said participants to make use of the NBT Teamspeak 2 comms during their play experience (voice.netbattletech.com).
At present, Dalan McKenna and ToxicSoul will be moderating this new group of forums. We hope that these forums increases your enjoyment of gaming in general, and NBT in specific.
-----
We hope all of you enjoy these new options in one way or another. As always, we are happy to provide options for those willing to play within our community. Have fun!
Dark Phoenix | Oct-07-3067 | Guerrilla Raid Modification: Similar to the limits present on Industry Theft and 'Mech Theft raids, only a single successful Guerrilla Raid may affect a planet every 30 days. If a GRaid is successful on a planet, the automation will prevent the launching of another GRaid for 30 days. This means that when launching on a major planet, you will need to decide what is most important regarding the planet: System-Defense Stations, Political Instability or the other GRaid effects.
Political Instability Change: You many now transfer 'Mechs from Mothball to Garrison mode, even if the planet is in PI mode. Other transfers are still prevented (Jumpship to Garrison, Transport to Garrison). This will specifically allow 'Mechs taken in salvage to be used, as well as 'Mechs produced by factories. The goal of PI mode is to prevent external 'Mechs from reinforcing the planet. In the cases of salvaged and factory produced 'Mechs, they are already present on the planet, so should be able to be used.
Dark Phoenix | Oct-01-3067 | October League Updates: Nothing major this time around, just a few price changes. The new BP #2 chassis have been added to the league, and will be distributed shortly. The factory revamp to allow for the new chassis should occur either this Sunday or next Sunday, depending on Pestilence's schedule.
The server stats for the month will be delayed slightly, while I attempt to gather the stats from the old servers, and the servers still offline. They will probably be somewhat incomplete once posted though. October's stats should be back on track though.
We are changing the pricing of 4 'Mechs in the NBT automation. I built the 4 MekTek custom 'Mechs in Heavy Metal Pro (or at least as close as I could get with them), and the prices were very different than what is currently in play. For the current prices I basically took the average of that weight class and applied it to the custom 'Mech. Not the best way, but it gave me a figure to start with.
Here's the Base Cost changes:
Ares: 17,196,761 -> 9,653,760
Deimos: 21,594,393 -> 9,738,660
Gesu: 8,489,480 -> 4,411,960 (also a tonnage change on this one)
Warthog: 29,718,076 -> 11,156,340
You can review the Clan and IS resulting cost in the 'Mech Market.
Dark Phoenix | Oct-01-3067 | HC Booster Pack #2 Released: HC 1.2 has been released today and is now running on the HC servers. You may find details regarding changes and the download link at the HC Release Page.
Notes On This Version: 5 new ‘Mech models. 10 new ‘Mech variants. 2 new weapons. Variety of quality of life features and bug fixes. Rebalances on: Jump Jets, Machine Guns, Ultra ACs, Light ACs and RACs. Heat Scale globally modified as well as Clan HS Efficiency. Gesu totally revamped.
Note – It is mandatory that you delete all Avatar and Jenner IIC variants in your “VariantsHC” folder after installing HC 1.2. It is recommended that you delete all Gesu variants in your “VariantsHC” folder after installing HC 1.2.
Dark Phoenix | Sep-26-3067 | New MRBC Hiring Hall - Noisiel: A new Hiring Hall option is available for Merc units to base themselves out of, namely the Lyran Alliance world of Noisiel.
Dark Phoenix | Sep-25-3067 | NBT Server Situation Update: The following servers are now online as of Sunday evening:
Adder - HC
Griffin - HC
Stalker - HC
Stiletto - HC
Stormcrow - HC or HCB
Summoner - HC or HCB
Sunder - MP2.1a Public Mission or HC
Stormcrow can run either HC or HCB depending on the shortcut used. HCB is used for the focus testers a couple times a week. Sunder will generally be reserved for the public players, but may be used for league drops if it is empty when it comes time.
The Server Admins will be getting their connection packages later today, so we will begin using the NBT servers again starting tonight.
Anubis, Archer, Atlas, Avatar, Commando and Cougar should be coming online by midweek. There have been some problems with the cloning of the drives, but this should be resolved hopefully by Wednesday.
Dark Phoenix | Sep-25-3067 | HCB40-092505 Released: HCB40 has been released today and is now running on the HCB servers. You may find details regarding changes and the download link at the HCB Release Page.
Notes On This Version: Fire Falcon added.
Dark Phoenix | Sep-23-3067 | NBT Server Situation Update: Through Traxxas' efforts, we have a couple servers online at present. 2 HC servers and 2 HCB servers are online and ready for use, though the Server Admins do not have access as of yet (will be corrected in the next day or so).
Voice/IRC/Download is also back online, so you may now connect to voice.netbattletech.com and irc.netbattletech.com for your TS2 and IRC needs.
Thanks for your patience and support in this. We hope to have the other servers online this weekend. We had some problems with both IP's and blue screens during the transfer, resulting in delays. We're getting there though.
Dark Phoenix | Sep-22-3067 | Merc Pilot Requirements Updated: After discussing it with the NBT Unit Leaders, NBT has decided to allow some additional leeway in the way Merc units work within the league. To date, for any unit to apply for a slot, they needed to have 10 active members. This limit is being relaxed in the case of Merc units, allowing groups with 5 active pilots to participate in the league.
The goal behind this is to possibly attract smaller groups to NBT who can participate and work within the league structure. The primary role of these Merc units will be to provide pilot support for the larger Houses and Periphery units. While they will still be able to launch attacks with their JumpShips, they are subject to the same pilot sharing rules as other Mercs.
Hopefully this new system will allow for those who wish to join the league, but do not have a sizable unit, to participate in NBT, both for their own enjoyment as well as to the improvement of the league as a whole.
Dark Phoenix | Sep-19-3067 | HCB39-091905 Released: HCB39 has been released today and is now running on the HCB servers. You may find details regarding changes and the download link at the HCB Release Page.
Notes On This Version: 2 Crusaders added. 3 variants added. 1 new weapon. Several quality of life bug fixes and additions to the MechLab. Narc damage bug fixes.
Dark Phoenix | Sep-14-3067 | NBT Server Situation Update: As most of you know, the NBT server bank officially went offline as of last night. This is actually a full week after it was suppossed to go offline on the 5th.
We have new hosting just about ready to go, and we are working out the final details on this today. NBT will be working on conjunction with a co-location company called GigAve. They have agreed to provide hosting for 9 of our servers for a reasonable monthly fee ($200) and site advertising. The league leaders have agreed that they will be able to cover this monthly expense, so we are proceeding with the transfer.
It will take a couple days to finalize the server move. Traxxas is going to be picking up the servers and then will need to do a little bit of work on them. One has a bad hard drive which will need to be replaced and cloned from one of the 2U servers. Also, 2 of the 1U servers we are purchasing have not been setup for NBT before, so they will be cloned from Adder to bring them online.
Sunder and Flea will both be upgraded to P4 servers (up from P3), so it should help greatly for those that regularly play on those servers. Sunder may even be able to go to 22 players if it is found that the server and connection can handle it.
The listing of servers that will be brought back online are as follows:
Adder - 1U P4
Anubis / Archer - 2U AMD (bad HD being replaced)
Atlas / Avatar - 2U AMD (going to be re-cloned as well)
Commando / Cougar - 2U AMD
Flea - 1U P4
Stalker / Stiletto - 2U AMD
Stormcrow / Summoner - 2U AMD
Sunder - 1U P4 (will continue to run Mission Play)
Voice / IRC - 1U P3 (didn't upgrade this one)
That's the current situation. For the next couple days league drops will be rather spotty, if occurring at all. We hope that with the help of HomeLAN, GigAve and Traxxas, we can get the servers back up and running no later than Monday, preferrably earlier.
Thank you for both your patience and your continued support. The league easily put together the $1000 needed to purchase the 4 HomeLAN servers we needed. As always, the league steps up when needed, showing why NBT has prospered all these years.
-salute-
Dark Phoenix | Sep-14-3067 | Solaris VII - Thor's Shieldhall Online: We have setup a seperate forum for all NBT-Solaris discussions, namely Thor's Shieldhall. It is a general Solaris hangout. Combined forum for all NBT-Solaris discussions, be they role-play development, questions, suggestions or bug reports.
As our acting Global Sector Administrator, Vipersbrood will be moderating this forum.

Dark Phoenix | Sep-06-3067 | NBT-Solaris Stage 1 Linkage Online: The login linkage between NBT-HC and NBT-Solaris (Stage 1) has been reactivated. This means that you can now login to the NBT-Solaris site and create new MW RPG characters.
Stage 2 of NBT-Solaris is still on the drawing board, planned, but no specific timeline at present. Hopefully someday soon we will be able to start on the coding portion of that project.
Previously made characters will be set to Retired and Archived. They will still be available for review, but will not be attached to particular logins (as the old logins are no longer part of the HC system).

Dark Phoenix | Sep-01-3067 | League Modifications – 09/01/05
Only a couple modifications this time around.
Base Factory Costs Reduced: The base cost added to all factory purchases has been reduced from 2 billion, down to 1 billion. This cost is in addition to the cost of the 'Mech and the Factory Type Multiplier (New or Expansion).
Jumpship Recharge Times: Base Jumpship Recharge Times are being reduced from 60 hours to 50 hours at this time.
Booster Pack #2 Status: Due to vacations and the like, Booster Pack #2 has been pushed back to October 1st. This will enable us to do further testing, as well as to include additional content. We will be releasing a HC 1.1.1 Micro-Patch later today that will make live a few weapon changes (Arrows and SLRM20).
Dark Phoenix | Aug-28-3067 | HCB37-082805 Released: HCB37 has been released today and is now running on the HCB servers. You may find details regarding changes and the download link at the HCB Release Page.

Note – It is mandatory that you delete all Avatar and Jenner IIC variants in your “VariantsHCB” folder after installing HCB36. It is recommended that you delete all Gesu variants in your “VariantsHCB” folder after installing HCB36.
Dark Phoenix | Aug-16-3067 | Factory Production Modification: The Max Production values of Clan and Inner Sphere owned factories have been reduced by 17%. This translates into a slightly slower recharge rate each week.
Dark Phoenix | Aug-13-3067 | Changing Diplomacy Settings Updated: Some additional functionality has been put into place regarding changes to diplomacy settings. This will allow some freedom for Alliance, while still requiring firm role-play to be put into place for entering War or Full Alliance status. Please note - It is still strongly recommended that units still partake in role-play for any diplomacy changes.
From the Alliance and Diplomacy Rules:
All Diplomacy settings are considered locked for the first 45 days of the league. After this period, appropriate RP may be started to bring about changes in the course of the league. Some changes may be made by units to their diplomacy, but we still strongly suggest that all diplomacy changes have appropriate RP to accompony them. Units that take part in multiple RP changes with no supporting RP will have the ability removed, and they will have the manual changes dialed back, and be hardcoded at their current levels until appropriate RP is created.
On setup, you will receive default settings based upon your unit’s place in the BattleTech universe. These settings are softcoded into the league and may be changed on a limited basis by the units themselves. Only a League Administrator may change alliance settings to Full Alliance or War settings, and only after the units involved have created a viable role-play backstory justifying the change. All posts regarding a specific requested change should be placed in a single Role Play forum thread. Thus ComStar News Posts made should be duplicated in the relevant thread. That way the League Admin can review the entire RP history behind the requested change at a single read, without having to reference multiple pages and post types.
Units may initiate changes in RP ranging from Military Alliance to Border Dispute. They may change their alliance settings up or down within this range, with each change requiring a 2 week waiting period before it takes effect (up or down). Upgrades must be approved by both units before the 2 week timer begins. Downgrades do not require dual approval, and may only be canceled by the originating unit.
Dark Phoenix | Aug-01-3067 | Merc Money Transfers Allowed: Due to not knowing when exactly the full MRBC will be up and running, the limitation on money transfers to Merc units have been lifted. If you are at Military or Full Alliance with a Merc, you may transfer funds to the Mercs, under normal league rules.
The league reserves the right to both monitor and change this function at a later date, especially if it is found to be abused by the parties involved.
Dark Phoenix | Aug-01-3067 | HC Booster Pack #1 Released: HC 1.1 has been released today and is now running on the HC servers. You may find details regarding changes and the download link at the HC Release Page.
Notes On This Version: Variety of new ‘Mechs and Variants added. 2 new weapons. Expanded ‘Mech Lobby Dropdowns to allow display of entire ‘Mech names.
Dark Phoenix | Aug-01-3067 | League Announcement – 08/01/05
Well the first month of NBT-HC has passed. Around 400 battles have been launched, and the servers have been busy almost every night with league drops as the pace of the league gets moving once again. HC Booster Pack #1 is ready for release and integration into the league as well.
As with all new leagues, some tweaks are needed during the setup process, as we see what is working and what is not. After reviewing the progress of the first month of the league, we have several changes that we are implementing as of the 1st of the month.
Recommended Garrison Divisor: This is the divisor that determines how many ‘Mechs you may place on each world. At league launch, this was set at 3,000,000. Starting on the 1st, this will be dropped to 2,500,000. This will provide a slight boost to the number of ‘Mechs that each world can garrison, as well as lowering the critical industry level from 150 million to 125 million (point where additional industry starts raising the RG level).
Long Jump Distances: This value is being increased from 500 light-years to 750 light-years on all long distance non-combat jumps, including Merc, ComStar, Clan, Periphery and Unassigned jumps.
Industry Cost Fluctuations Implemented: The purchase cost of additional industry will now start fluctuating daily. For IS based units, the cost will range from 10-15 c-bills. For Clan based units, the cost will range from 7-11 c-bills.
Periphery Maintenance Factor Decreased: All Periphery maintenance costs will be reduced by 10% each week.
ComStar vs SLDF Fee Distribution: Some changes are being implemented regarding how these fees are handled. Previously, around 66% of the fees were ComStar, and 33% SLDF. This is being brought more in line with a 50/50 split between the two fees. This change will have a variety of effects, of varying strength. ComStar units will not receive quite as many funds. IS based units which are not SLDF members will actually see a decrease in expenses. Units which are both ComStar and SLDF members should see no major changes in expenses.
Jumpship Recharge Times: As most have noticed, the NBT-HC Jumpships were recharging at a greater delay than in NBT-Mercs. This was intentional to provide an initial control over the pace of the league. We are doing an initial relaxing of this restriction, with a probable second change the following month. Base Jumpship Recharge Times are being reduced from 72 hours to 60 hours at this time (16% reduction).
Factory Updates: Over the course of the next week, many of you will see some modifications made to your factories to represent the introduction of the new Booster Pack #1 chassis into the league. They will be changed based on the CBT production values for those 'Mechs.
'Mech Booster Packs: Hopefully around the 15th of the month, units will receive a set Booster Pack of the new 'Mechs. The size of this pack will be based on their current size within the league.
-----
The following changes all deal with tonnages on various battles within the league. Most of these changes have to do with making it easier for both attackers and defenders to prepare adequate force decs to either garrison or attack planets with. These will be smaller changes at first, with possible larger changes as time progresses.
PA Landing Zone Tonnages: Increased from three 300 ton drops to three 400 ton drops.
Guerilla Raid Tonnages: Will remain 250-500 tons, but with less chance of the 250 and 300 ton drops appearing.
-----
That's it for this time around. There are more changes planned for the upcoming months as we start speeding back up the league, and giving units more and more control over their own progress in the league. Thanks as always to all those that choose to participate in NBT-HC!
