Connection Speed Tutorial
NBT-HardCore allows player to join the league regardless of Internet connection. From 33.6 to T3 lines, all are welcome. Due to the nature of the Internet though, this can sometimes cause issues with lag and playability. MW4: Mercs requires that you set your in-game connection speed to the correct setting in order to optimize play. NBT-HardCore requires this as well.
- You may test your internet connection speed at http://www.dslreports.com/stest?loc=1
- Click Start on the JAVA applet
- It will then return a screen with the following information:

- Make note of your UPLOAD speed. This is generally the smaller of the two numbers. This will be the figure you will use later.
- Open up MW4: Mercenaries. Choose Multiplayer from the main menu.
- Edit your MW4: Mercenaries connection. There are 2 connection choices that will need to be set.
- The first is your connection type. Your choices include: Modem, ISDN, Cable, LAN

- Next is the choice of the actual speed you connect at. Your choices range from 14.4, all the way up to 100MB LAN connection.

- Your choice will be dependent on the speed results you acquired earlier. Choose the closest option, without going over your rated speed. Example: If your upload speed was 650 kbps, you would choose the 384 (cable,DSL) option.
- Client connections (YOU) should usually be set at 56.6 even if you have broadband. This allows the server to send you fewer updates per second, but the game will play more accurately and smoothly. Broadband should be reserved for games where you KNOW that all participants are on Broadband, and LAN is only used for LAN games. In any case, never set your multiplayer connection speed higher than your actual upload speed.
- Save your modified connection settings.
- Following these simple instructions will greatly improve gameplay both for yourself, and those you play with. We thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
