While it's probably under the radar of the liberals here she is waging a very successful campaign of conservative revival all across the country. She doesn't need the support of the 40% who think socialism is the path to riches so it doesn't really matter what any of the socialists here or in the media think about her. The people who don't want to be taxed into oblivion are listening to her, giving her money and gathering together in a transformed political movement.
I'm sure you'll all be shocked when she turns out to be a national player of significance.
Slow down Stalker that far to much information to write down on a single hand.

Ironically, the socialist state of Australia is doing quite well these days.

did any of you notice in her televised speech that she had words written on her left palm? (nod to John Stewart)

She is not "waging" any kind of campaign, she's attached herself to a grassroots conservative movement to boost her own status. The Tea Party movement will be ill served if they pick Palin as their figurehead.

...and as an interesting omen, "budget cuts" were crossed off her palm bullet point list.

The phrase "Budget cuts" is crossed out. There's a photo of her actually looking down at her hand on one of the questions. What a strange thing. This is also right after she finished mocking Obama for using a teleprompter.
Naysayers are going to realize too late that this will portray her as being just one of the people, that she is JUST LIKE them - fallible and normal. The ones that think they know what is best for Americans instead of executing their will. Democrats and Republicans alike.
Disparage her for her common-ness or for being crass and you make her preferable in the eyes of the hoi polloi.

I'll never understand why people want someone "just like them" as a leader. We've got 300 million people to pick from, why not get someone exceptional?

The reason that the "average joe" notion is appealing, is because people feel that it's more likely that such candidates understand where the voter is coming from, and as a result, will be more likely to govern in a way that will benefit the voter.
Usually it's just a sham though, so whatever.

Well if you ever read his book, Obama comes from a pretty average background, but people consider him elitist.
So yeah it is just a big pile of bs.

He did go to Hah-vad, that makes him acceptable to the elitists, despite his average upbringing, like the Kennedys, born out of bootlegging - a different hoi polloi and standard.
Jimmy Johnson for President! Or maybe his scion.

I'm sure the advice of a hard left partisan really has the best interests of conservatives in mind.
Of course you think that all Palin has done is find a pre-existing movement to attach herself to, because you're pretty much ignorant of conservative politics and only ever hear her name when the NYT is bashing her over some trivial issue. She's been doing pretty well as a solo flyer since the election campaign, even if the liberal media doesn't report it.

I agree that Palin would be a bad move for the republican party, as I do not believe her motivations stem out of what I consider to be conservative.

Roland simply disagrees with me on this issue regarding the best means to help the conservative cause, he has the right principles though. The liberals on the other hand would never acknowledge the greatness of any conservative so the fact they knock Palin is about as interesting as watching paint dry.

The best means to help the conservative cause would be to split the Republican party down the line between fiscal conservatives and brain-dead fundamentalists such as Huckabee.
It would attract a lot of people who vote for the Democrats as the lesser of two evils.

I was just thinking about that actually. Social conservatives have a lot more in common with liberals than they do fiscal conservatives. Both liberals and so-cons want Big Government to be intrusive and controlling of peoples lives, the only disagreement between them is in what kind of things that control should be used for but both factions would approve of a one party state telling the unwashed masses how to live.
If not for the abortion issue, they'd probably be able to form a new coalition of authoritarian statists tomorrow.

Bush went to both Yale and Harvard does that make him twice as acceptable to the elitists?
Something to ponder aye?
