you don't need 3.02a. As a minimum you need 2.1(a). That one comes with the NBT-Cds.

You'll find that the official NBT installation guide concurs, as it gives you the choice. Required League Downloads wrote: * Install MW4: Mercs * Install NBT-CD 1 & NBT-CD2 * PR1 * MP2.1a or MP3.x * NBT Updater (will auto-update HC) * Additional maps can be installed at anytime If you're not interested in MekTek's current incarnation, then 2.1(a), as Devil said, is sufficient, and simpler to install as it's contained on the CD packs. «Çߧ»Gremlich Johns wrote: solution or cause?
The installation will often bug for various reasons if you haven't started from a clean install.
If his game is otherwise working but the updater is wierding out, make sure it's in the right directory. Should be Mercs base from memory. If location is correct but it's still failing, try re-downloading the updater. You never know.
If even his non-NBT game is failing, then the installation is busted.
Either way, the easiest thing to do if you can't find an easy fix is unfortunately to completely uninstall the game and delete the directory, then redo following your chosen instructions meticulously.
All three sets - Nyt's, NBT's and Gohan's - work provided you start from a clean slate. Obviously you can save time if your man makes sure the NBT CD installs, MekPack unloaders and any updater packages are backed before wiping the dir.
Be sure to get both MP3.2a and MP3.2b in order, too. I made that mistake the first time, way back in the day.
Also make sure you don't put 2.1a on if you want MP3. The MP3.1a installer is milestone from PR1 only.
ALSO: if he's vista, make sure you turn User Account Control off before beginning the install. Mine (V64) flat out would not work, for about three different reasons, until I did that.

At the present, I have three MW4 Merc folders (Merc PR1, Merc MekTek and Merc NBT).
I can play MekPak 3.2b+HDP and HC but have yet to be able to play HC and MekPak3 when installed together. Having read in many places that a joint installation is possible, I wish to wonder what am I doing wrong?
My installation procedure was as instructed by this site but only a MekPak2+HC joint installation seems possible, not MekPak3. The common error I get is "Error: Unsupported game version" when attempting to update HC while in a MK3 directory.
So far, it seems the HDP texture upgrade does not seem compatible with HC. Would this be correct?

i got Mektek 3.02b to work with HC when I installed the updated manually one after the other. Every time I tried to install from PR1 to MP 3.02a it would give me the unsupported game version error. So I decided to go the long way ( it does actually not take much more time just more involvement) with going from MP 1.0 up to 3.02b
then I installed the HP updater and everything seams to be running fine. *shrugs*

Damn right! Is your number still the same since our Widowmaker days? If so, I'll call you sometime.

speaking of this, could we make it compatible, or would our differing 'mechs screw that for us without new high def textures for them?
