NBT-HardCore Beta ReadMe - May 3, 2007

Version History - NBT-HardCore Beta ChangeLog

Please Note - The above file is only the Updater. Once unzipped to your Mercs directory and run, it will download and install all patches needed to update your MW4 to the latest HCB version. This may include MP3.x uninstallers (30 meg), as well as the HC and HCB core files (36 meg each). You must have the HC Client installed in order to install the HCB Client. The Updater will handle this for you.

Current HCB Incrementals (Optional): For use if your computer / firewall blocks the Auto-Updater. Below you will find various Milestone Packages. They contain the primary package necessary for installing the HCB Client. Subsequent patches will be incremental in nature, resulting in much smaller downloads. Every +5 version a Milestone Package will be released in addition to the incremental so that new installs only have to install a limited number of incremental patches. The auto-updater will handle the installation of all incremental patches, which are listed below.

NBT-HardCore Beta Installation Instructions

First and foremost, congratulations upon your acceptance into the NBT-HardCore Beta Program. Welcome and enjoy yourself. Now that you have your copy of the software, it is time to install it so that you can get to work finding bugs, reporting errors and making educated and reasoned suggestions to the HardCore Development Team.

Short Version

Installation Instructions

Before installing the NBT-HardCore Beta package, please verify that the following are installed and working properly on your system.

Once the above points have been verified, you may then proceed with the installation of the NBT-HardCore Beta Client. Please keep in mind that the HCB Client does not overwrite any of your previous files, so no damage will be done to your existing installation (MPx), and you may continue to use it as you wish.

The installer will now take over and proceed through the following steps:

Once the installer says that it has successfully completed patching, you will have access to both a working copy of the HC Client, the HCB Client, as well as your MekTek MPx. The MPx installation and servers will run normally. A shortcut for this will have been placed on your desktop in order to run the HCB Client. To manually create a shortcut, simply add -mod:HCB to the MW4 command line.

Uninstall Procedure:

Running a MW4 Monitor Server Under the NBT-HardCore Beta

In order to run a MW4 Monitor dedicated server, simply edit the following commands in your server.ini. These changes will direct the Monitor to use the MW4Mercs executable for the server, as well as activating the HCB Mod.

Type=3
ExtraParams=-mod:HCB

PureTech and HideTech Enforcers

To make use of the PureTech and HideTech Enforcers on your servers, you will need to edit your server NFM files. An example entry is included below. The [PH] activates both the PureTech and HideTech Enforcers. A [P] would be PureTech only, and a [H] would be HideTech only.

Coliseum={
[server]
name=Coliseum [PH]
ruleset=$(StockTeamBattle)
teamAllowed =1
teamcount =2
scenariotext=resource\missions\tbat.txt
}

Key-0 Stock Signature System

In the Available Packages tab you will find the Key-0 Stock Signature Package. This will allow any of these variants to be used in Key-0 stock league drops, rather than only a single chassis as is normal in stock drops. Activation of this system server side is similar to the HideTech and PureTech Enforcers, in this case adding a [0] to the NFM file entries. This package includes all 338 approved variants.

MP3 Compatibility

Installing MP3 over a HC installation will disable HC due to the way MekTek coded their latest pack. In order to solve this incompatibility, HC has included in 1.2.1 a HCEnabler.exe program. The only time you "may" need to run this program (depending on how MT chooses to run their updates) is during a MP3 upgrade (MP3.0.1 etc). If that is the case, simply run the HCEnabler.exe, choosing to disable HC. Install the MP3 upgrade(s), and then use the enabler to reactivate HC.

Conclusion

After the above steps are completed, you are ready to play the NBT-HardCore Beta. We thank you for your interest in our project, and look forward to hearing your input on the NBT-HardCore Beta forums. Good luck and have fun!
